📖History & Curiosities
One of Europe's oldest galleries, opened in 1836 for the Wittelsbach collection. Bombed in 1944, it was rebuilt leaving modern brick exposed where the stone was missing — a deliberate scar. Inside are Dürer's self-portraits, a whole room of Rubens, and Altdorfer's Battle of Alexander, where the sky takes up half the picture.
