Canada's first national park, founded in 1885 around a set of hot springs and now the official portrait of the Rockies: lakes turned turquoise by glacial flour, hanging glaciers, spruce forest. The Icefields Parkway that starts here is among the great scenic drives anywhere. Black bears, elk and bighorn sheep turn up at the roadside.
