The finest temple at Bagan, completed in 1105 on a perfect Greek cross with a gilded spire at the crossing. Inside, four standing Buddhas nine metres tall face the cardinal directions down dark corridors โ two of them original teak, and their expression changes depending on how far away you stand. Alone among the temples of the plain, its outer walls are still whitewashed.
