Not a canyon at all but a natural amphitheatre packed with hoodoos โ orange limestone spires that winter frost splits and sharpens each year. From the rim they look like a frozen crowd; drop into the Navajo Loop and you walk among them, losing all sense of scale. The skies here are among the darkest in the country, and the Milky Way shows up unaided.
