One of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, in white marble and granite, its four-thousand-tonne dome lifted from the ground in a single piece. The interior was completed only recently: fifteen thousand square metres of gold-ground mosaic, the biggest such work of the modern era. It stands where the Ottomans burned Saint Sava's relics in 1595.
