The tallest wax palms on earth — up to sixty metres, thin as aerials — standing on impossibly green pasture that climbs into the mist: mountain palms at 2,400 m, a combination that shouldn't work. This is Colombia's national tree and it grows nowhere else. The loop walk starts from the village of Salento, crosses cloud forest and drops back down right through the palms.
