The steaming valley that gave every geyser in the world its name. The original Geysir now mostly sleeps, but a few steps away Strokkur fires a column of boiling water twenty metres up every five to ten minutes, and the crowd cheers every time. Around it lie blue pools and sulphur crusts you keep well off.
