Cook named it for the sixty-metre columnar pines he saw from the ship, straight as pencils, which still fringe every beach and look like no other tree. The Piscine Naturelle at Oro is a coral basin linked to the sea by a channel, where you float among fish with no current at all. It is home to the Kunié people, who run most of the visits themselves.
