A Y-shaped valley below the Tibetan ranges of Sichuan, filled with lakes of a turquoise that looks retouched โ it is dissolved limestone, and fallen trunks lie petrified on the bottom. Boardwalks link stepped waterfalls, travertine terraces and the nine Tibetan villages that give the place its name. In October the forests turn red and the colours double.
