A Maya farming village buried under six metres of ash by an eruption around 600 AD and recovered intact: no palaces or temples, but kitchens with the pots still where they were left, maize fields with the furrows, a communal sweat lodge. The villagers had time to run and not a single body was found. Nowhere else shows how ordinary Maya actually lived.
