The Potaro river drops 226 metres in a single leap — five times the height of Niagara — in the middle of rainforest, with no railings, no boardwalks and no crowd: often ten people arrive together on the charter flight from Georgetown. You can sit on the lip of the rock with your feet over the edge. In the bromeliads nearby lives a tiny golden frog that never leaves its plant.
