A hundred and forty-seven mostly bare islands of white rock and dry-stone walls — the leftovers of creation, as Bernard Shaw put it. On the seaward side stand the crowns, cliffs falling more than eighty metres straight into the water. Nobody lives here year-round; boats come out from Murter or Zadar, and lunch means one of a handful of konobas.
