The largest lake in the Faroes stops thirty metres above the ocean, held back by the thin lip of the Trælanípa cliff. Seen from the right angle it appears to hang in the air far higher than it really does — the optical illusion people walk ninety minutes along the shore for. At its far end the water spills straight into the sea as Bøsdalafossur.
