A bend of the Răut river hemmed in by limestone walls, where Getae, Mongols and Moldavians left their layers: fortifications, Tatar baths, and above all the monastery Orthodox monks cut into the cliff in the thirteenth century, cells opening onto the drop and a cross rising straight out of the rock. In the villages of Butuceni and Trebujeni you sleep in farmhouses and eat whatever is going.
