A Maya city buried in the Chiapas rainforest, where the howler monkeys reach you before the temples do. The Temple of the Inscriptions held the tomb of King Pakal, sealed under a carved slab that ranks among the masterpieces of Maya art, and the Palace has a four-storey tower found nowhere else in the region. Barely a tenth of the site has been excavated.
