Calcium-rich hot springs have been running down this slope for millennia, building white stepped terraces filled with warm blue water: from a distance it looks like a frozen waterfall in open country. You climb the marked route barefoot. At the top lie the ruins of Hierapolis, the Roman spa town, with its necropolis and a pool where you swim among fallen columns.
