A blade of gneiss jutting into thin air above Lake Ringedalsvatnet, some seven hundred metres of drop beneath it. Getting there is a real day out: twenty-eight kilometres round trip, ten to twelve hours, snow lingering into June. Everyone knows the photo at the tip; it is the walk across the plateau that stays with you.
