The White Temple is contemporary art dressed as a temple: the artist behind it has been building it since 1997, all white plaster and mirror, and does not expect to finish before 2070. The entrance bridge crosses a sea of hands reaching up from hell; inside, the murals set superheroes and the Twin Towers beside the Buddha. The lavatory block, by contrast, is gold.
