The longest continuously inhabited castle in the world: nine hundred and fifty unbroken years, and still a working royal residence at weekends. The fire of 1992 destroyed a hundred rooms and the repairs took five years. St George's Chapel, Perpendicular Gothic, holds ten monarchs, among them Henry VIII and Elizabeth II.
