A Viennese chocolate cake with a thin layer of apricot jam beneath a glossy dark-chocolate glaze, served with unsweetened whipped cream. Invented in 1832 by the young Franz Sacher for Prince Metternich; the original recipe was fought over in court between the Hotel Sacher and the Demel patisserie.
