Features
Explore & Map
Browse the world your way: from the interactive map or the catalog by country, region and city.
- ·Leaflet map with automatic clustering, search by name and category filter.
- ·Browse continents → countries → regions → cities → places: every level has its own page.
- ·Can't find a place? Use "Suggest" to add it: the community will verify it.
Routes
Build multi-stop routes with full GPX tracks and every travel parameter under control.
- ·Round-trip mode (back to start) or linear (A→B): toggle with one tap.
- ·Reverse stops with a tap, elevation gain & loss and estimated duration.
- ·Import/export GPX, save private or public, share the link in chat.
Navigate a route
Open a route and tap "Start the trip": Locaria guides you stop by stop, even with the screen off.
- ·Two modes: Free (map and track) or Follow (a line points to your next stop).
- ·A travel screen with distance, estimated time and compass; the map orients to your heading.
- ·Automatic check-in: each stop marks itself when you arrive (confirm cities with a tap).
- ·Multi-day routes: advance day by day until the trip is complete.
- ·In the Android app, GPS stays active with the screen off and alerts you when you near a stop.
🪪 Profile, Passport & Badges
Your digital passport keeps track of everything: where you've been, what you've tasted, how much you've explored.
- ·Mark places as visited with a tap: the map turns green where you've already been.
- ·Unlock bronze/silver/gold/platinum badges at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of cities, regions and countries.
- ·Wishlist, contributions and personal stats all in one dashboard.
- ·Rate places, flavors, highlights and routes 1–5 stars; cities, regions and countries show the aggregated average.
Your memories and check-ins
Every place, highlight or flavor keeps your "memories": what you want to visit and what you've already done.
- ·Save to your wishlist ("To visit") or mark as visited, with the visit date.
- ·Multiple visits: log more than one dated visit to the same place over time.
- ·GPS-verified check-in, seen from outside or inside: it stamps your passport and levels up your badges.
"+" button (quick suggestions)
The center button is the fastest way to add something to the map, even while walking.
- ·Single tap: opens the classic form to describe a place, flavor or highlight.
- ·Hold: dictate by voice — we transcribe and capture coordinates automatically.
- ·Drag while holding toward one of the three corners to pick the type (Place / Flavor / Highlight).
- ·Triple tap: save a quick pin at your current GPS location without typing anything.
Flavors & Highlights
Two ways to enrich a city beyond places: typical dishes and special details.
- ·Flavors: regional and national dishes. Mark what you've tasted and collect culinary badges.
- ·Highlights: trivia, minor monuments, artistic details of a specific place.
- ·Each card has photo, description, author and link to the place or region of origin.
Network & Messages
Locaria is better together: find friends, exchange tips and share anything.
- ·Search users by name, send friend requests, manage your network from the dedicated tab.
- ·Real-time chat with online status, "typing…" and unread counter.
- ·Share places, routes, flavors and profiles in chat or copy the public link.
PWA, offline & sync
Locaria is a Progressive Web App: install it on your phone, browse already-loaded content offline and use it even with poor connection.
- ·Install from the banner or browser menu: you'll get an icon like a real app.
- ·Your actions are saved locally and synced as soon as you're back online.
- ·Photos compressed and GPS metadata removed automatically before upload.
- ·In-app notification bell and announcements, dark mode (beta) from your profile; to download a route and navigate it offline, use the Android app (below).
Android app
Besides the web version there's the Android app: the same features, plus what the browser can't do — including downloading routes and navigating them fully offline.
- ·Offline routes + background GPS: download an itinerary and navigate it (or record the GPX track) with no connection and the screen off.
- ·A camera that keeps the photo's location: suggestions land on the right spot from the start.
- ·More accurate voice dictation of suggestions, using native recognition.
- ·Download it from the home or About page; on iPhone, use the web app from Safari.
