Two and a half kilometres of emerald water closed off at its head by the hanging Victoria Glacier, which mirrors itself in it on windless mornings. The colour comes from rock flour so fine the glacier grinds it into suspension, where it scatters the light. The Plain of Six Glaciers trail climbs the valley to a log teahouse from 1927; in winter the lake freezes and people skate on it.
